Okurcalar to Antalya Airport Transfer

Okurcalar lies on the sea side of the D400, roughly 95 km from Antalya Airport, and nearly the whole journey belongs to that one road. It begins with the short climb from the resort access lane up to the highway and the turn onto the Antalya-bound carriageway; after that the coast simply unwinds, past the Kizilot greenhouses, through Manavgat and out over the Side junction.

Two places decide how long the drive takes. Manavgat is the first: it carries its own local traffic all day and slows a westbound car most in the middle of the morning. The second is the final fifteen kilometres, where the road collects Antalya's commuter and hotel traffic on the approach to the terminal turn-off. On an afternoon departure that last stretch can cost more minutes than the forty kilometres before it.

In normal conditions the run takes 90 minutes to 1 hour 45. Early departures are the fastest of the day, because before sunrise the corridor is close to empty and the drive holds the lower end of that band. Weekend mornings in July and August are the other extreme: the coast changes over on the same two days and the westbound lanes fill with airport-bound coaches from Alanya onwards.

Both ends of that band are treated as real when the job is planned. You give us the flight time, we set the pickup against it for the day you are actually travelling, and the driver leaves with the season and the hour already accounted for rather than with a best case in mind.

Most hotels here are gated compounds with a forecourt, and on a changeover morning that forecourt is the busiest square metre in the resort. The driver checks in at the barrier with your name and room number and waits at the lobby door, not out in the coach lane, so nobody is dragging three cases across a working apron in the dark.

Give us the property exactly as it appears on your reservation and the block or villa number if the site has several. Where a compound keeps a separate service gate we still use the guest entrance, because that is where the night porter is and where the luggage room key lives. If you are leaving before reception is staffed, say so at booking and the pickup point is confirmed with the hotel the day before, which is a great deal simpler than looking for a vehicle in an unlit car park.

Finding a taxi in Okurcalar at four in the morning is a different problem from finding one at an airport rank. The cars that serve this strip work daytime hours; out of season, and before dawn in any season, the hotel has to telephone for one and it comes from the town. The wait is real, it is not quotable in advance, and you discover its length standing in the lobby with the room already handed back.

Then there is the money. Ninety-five kilometres on a meter down an empty road is a quick run, which does not make it a cheap one, and you agree to it with the cases already on the pavement. A booked departure settles the figure weeks earlier, for the vehicle rather than for each seat, and no part of it is negotiated on the doorstep.

Size is the third difference. Resort taxis are standard cars. A family with four large cases and a buggy becomes a two-car job at the rank, splitting the party at exactly the wrong moment, while a booked van carries the group and the luggage together for one agreed price.
