Konaklı to Antalya Airport Transfer

A departure from Konaklı does not start at a single point, because the hotels are strung along a long piece of coast. A property at the western end is already facing the right way and joins the highway toward Payallar almost as soon as it leaves the drive. One at the eastern end, closer to the Alanya boundary, runs a short distance along the coast first before the carriageway can be swapped. Neither is a difficulty; both need to be known beforehand, which is why the booking asks for the hotel and not just the resort.

Once the vehicle is pointed west the shape of the journey is simple and long. Payallar goes by, then Türkler, then the Avsallar and İncekum bays, then Okurcalar. The resort exits arrive quickly for the first part and then stop altogether, and the road opens out across the Manavgat plain. Around 117 km in total, and 110 to 130 minutes in normal conditions.

When this route is slow, it is slow around Manavgat and on the approach to the Side junction. Saturdays and Sundays in high summer concentrate it, since most hotel weeks along this coast begin and end on those two days, and the departures they generate all reach the highway inside the same handful of hours. West of the Side junction the road runs behind the hotel belt to the airport turn-off and rarely gives any trouble.

A departure that leaves before first light sees none of this. The strip is silent, the highway is clear as far as Manavgat, and the drive holds the bottom of the band. Most Konaklı hotels have a guest entrance facing the sea and a vehicle entrance on the inland side, and the two are not always joined by anything you would want to push a loaded trolley along. Your driver's standing point is agreed before the day so that at the pickup hour there is no walking the length of the building to find a car that is parked behind it. Where the hotel keeps its own barrier, the booking is given at the gate and the vehicle waits at the lobby door.

Apartments and smaller properties set back from the beach road need a street the vehicle can enter and leave without reversing, and we settle that when the booking is confirmed rather than on the morning. If you are checking out well before the day shift starts, tell the night desk the evening before — most of the larger properties along here keep someone on overnight, and it is the difference between the door being open and the driver waiting outside a locked lobby.

Konaklı's taxis are good at what they mostly do: short hops along the coast, a run into Alanya for the evening, the trip back after dinner. Those are jobs where the meter is a small number and the car is back on the strip within the hour. A 117 km run to the terminal is a different category of work, and treating it as though it were the same thing is where departures go wrong.

The problem is not only price, though price is the visible part. At this distance the total depends on how the corridor behaves between Okurcalar and Manavgat, and the flat figure offered to you in the drive is one you have no way of checking with your bags already down and a departure hour you cannot move. Reserving in advance converts that into a settled number: agreed when you book, unchanged on the day, paid in cash at the end.

The second part is availability at exactly the wrong moment. Your leaving time is chosen by an airline, not by you, and "we will see what is around" is not a plan for four in the morning in November. A booked car is allocated to your address for the hour you set, with the standing point, the group size and the luggage already written down before it sets off.
