About this place

Perge Ancient City

Perge Ancient City is a sprawling Roman-Pamphylian ruin near Aksu, just 9 km and 18 minutes from Antalya Airport.

Perge was one of ancient Pamphylia's great cities, and the ruins near Aksu rank among the most complete in the region. A colonnaded street still runs between rows of columns, flanked by a vast stadium, Roman baths, a monumental gateway with round Hellenistic towers, and a theatre that once seated thousands — an open-air city you can walk from end to end.

Perge sits only 9 km inland from Antalya Airport, 18 minutes off the D400 near Aksu. It is one of the closest historic sites to the runway, but the entrance has little shade and no direct bus service, so a private transfer takes you straight to the car park and ticket office at the site gate — no waiting around in the midday heat.

The site is large and almost entirely unshaded, with uneven marble paving and grass underfoot across much of the route, so sturdy, closed shoes matter more than sandals. A car park sits at the entrance, but there are no shaded rest points along the colonnaded street or around the stadium and baths.

Practical information

Time Needed
A thorough visit takes about one and a half to two hours of walking.
Footwear & Terrain
Sturdy shoes are essential — the ruins have uneven marble paving and grass underfoot throughout.
Shade & Water
The site is almost entirely open with little shade, so bring water, a hat and sunscreen.
Best Time of Day
Early morning or late afternoon avoids the strongest sun across the open site.

Why MovXtra for your Perge transfer?

4 key benefits

Benefit 1

Licensed and insured

MovXtra is a TÜRSAB-licensed operator (licence no. 16177) — every transfer is insured and regulated, so your Perge transfer runs to a professional standard, not an informal arrangement.

Benefit 2

Fixed price, no surprises

Your Perge fare is set at booking, before you land. No meter, no traffic surcharge and no negotiation on arrival — the price you see is the price you pay.

Benefit 3

Dropped at the ticket office, not the roadside

Perge is signposted off the D400 near Aksu, set back from the main road. We drive straight to the car park and ticket office, so you avoid navigating country lanes in the midday heat.

Benefit 4

Driver waiting at your pickup point, no searching

The pickup address is yours to pick at booking — your hotel, your villa, or any other address in the region. Arriving by air? Your driver waits in the Antalya Airport arrivals hall with your name on a sign, ready the moment you clear customs. Collect your bags and go straight to Perge — no taxi queues, no haggling.

Private transfer vs. taxi

Airport taxis to Perge run on a meter or a driver-quoted fare you agree on the spot, and price can shift with traffic or route. A private transfer is fixed and confirmed before you fly, covers the return leg at a time you choose, and needs no roadside negotiation on arrival.

Planning Your Return Trip

Sightseeing at Perge takes as long as it takes — your driver waits nearby or returns at a time you set when booking. There's no fixed slot to rush back for, so you can walk the colonnaded street and theatre at your own pace.

The price is per vehicle, not per person, so it covers everyone travelling together up to the vehicle's seating capacity. A family or group of four pays the same fixed fare as a solo traveller booking the same car.

The drive from Antalya Airport to Perge Ancient City is 9 km and takes 18 minutes by private transfer or metered taxi, both on the same road. There is no direct bus or dolmuş from the airport — public transport means routing via Aksu — so a taxi or pre-booked transfer is the most practical option.
