Patara Beach is an 18 km expanse of pristine sand on Turkey's southwest coast, designated a national park to protect nesting Caretta caretta turtles. Backing the beach are the ruins of the ancient Lycian city of Patara, including a Roman amphitheatre and the recently restored bouleuterion (parliament building) of the Lycian League.
Patara is ~205 km from Antalya Airport — at the far western edge of MovXtra's coverage area, typically a 3-3.5 hour drive via the D400. Most visitors combine Patara with Kalkan or Kaş accommodation rather than as an airport day-trip.
The beach is reached by paved road from the village of Gelemiş; the final approach is sandy in places. Limited shaded areas, no hotels or buildings on the beach itself — bring your own shade. The ruins lie between the village and the beach and can be visited on the same ticket. Allow a full day.
