Köprülü Canyon is a 14-kilometre gorge carved by the Köprüçay river northeast of Antalya, best known as the region's white-water rafting centre. A Roman-era humpback bridge still spans the river, and the mountain ruins of ancient Selge lie above, all within a national park of cypress forest and turquoise water.
The transfer from Antalya Airport covers 84 km and takes 1 hour 23 minutes, running east past Serik before climbing into the canyon on winding mountain roads to Beşkonak, the gateway village for the national park. With rafting bases scattered deep in the valley and only infrequent seasonal minibuses reaching the area, most visitors treat Köprülü Canyon as a full day trip from Antalya.
The valley road runs alongside the river, lined with rafting bases and restaurants built on timber platforms over the water. Paths down to the river are uneven and can be wet or muddy underfoot, so this is not stroller-friendly terrain. Sturdy, closed footwear that can get wet is essential; sandals are not enough.
