About this place

Temple of Apollo, Side

The Temple of Apollo is Side's 2nd-century AD marble landmark on the tip of the peninsula, 66 km (1 hour 11 minutes) from Antalya Airport.

The Temple of Apollo stands at the tip of the Side peninsula, its re-erected white columns rising above the sea. Built in the 2nd century AD, it is the emblem of Side and its most romantic spot, especially at sunset, when the marble glows gold above the harbour and the ancient town — bathhouses, agora and a great theatre — comes alive.

Side is 66 km from Antalya Airport, a 1 hour 11 minutes drive east along the coastal road through Serik and Manavgat — easily done as a day trip. Cars cannot enter Side's pedestrianised old town, so your driver drops you at the peninsula's edge, by the old town entrance, for a short walk through the ruins to the temple and seafront.

The temple sits at the water's edge within Side's ancient city, reached along cobbled old-town lanes lined with shops and restaurants, so comfortable, flat shoes are worth wearing over the uneven stone. The temple itself is open ground with no shelter, and the wider site has little shade, so the exposed point can feel hot at midday.

Practical information

Time Needed
Allow around two hours to see the temple, theatre and harbour together within Side's compact old town.
Footwear & Terrain
Cobbled old-town lanes lead to the temple platform; flat, comfortable shoes make the uneven stone easier underfoot.
Shade & Water
The temple point has little shade, so bring water and sun protection, especially in the summer months.
Best Time of Day
Late afternoon into sunset is best, when the marble columns catch the light above the harbour.

Why MovXtra for your Temple of Apollo transfer?

4 key benefits

Benefit 1

Fixed price, no surprises

Your Temple of Apollo transfer rate is agreed before you travel — no meter, no traffic surcharge, no cash haggling at the old-town entrance. The price you're quoted is the price you pay.

Benefit 2

Driver waiting at your pickup point

You set the pickup address at booking — hotel reception, villa gate, or any other address in the region — and the driver comes there. If you are arriving by air, they are in the Antalya Airport arrivals hall with your name on a sign before you clear customs. Collect your luggage and go straight to the car — no taxi rank, no queuing for a fare.

Benefit 3

Side old town — we park, you walk in

Side's pedestrianised old town is closed to vehicles, so we drop you at the edge of the peninsula, the closest permitted point to the Temple of Apollo, for a short walk in through the ruins.

Benefit 4

Licensed and insured

MovXtra is a TÜRSAB-licensed operator (licence no. 16177) — every transfer is insured and regulated, with vetted drivers and roadworthy vehicles for total peace of mind.

Private transfer vs. taxi

Airport taxis to Side run on the meter, so the fare climbs with traffic through Serik and Manavgat, rarely fixed until you negotiate on arrival. A pre-booked transfer locks in route, price and pickup time in advance — no meter, no bargaining, and no uncertainty about your return fare.

Planning Your Return Trip

Because Side is a day trip, your driver and vehicle stay with you for the day rather than dropping and leaving. You agree a pickup time and place in advance, and the same car brings you back whenever you're ready.
