Kundu to Antalya Airport Transfer

Kundu lies about 16 km from the terminal and the journey takes 23 to 32 minutes. That time is spent on two very different kinds of road: the resort access loop, which is slow and crowded whenever the hotels are moving people, and the D400, which is dual carriageway and is rarely the problem.

The first few minutes decide the rest of it. Leaving your hotel, the route runs along the strip road behind the beach, past the neighbouring resorts, and out to the junction with the main road inland. That junction and the approach to it are where coaches queue on a summer morning. Once you are westbound on the D400 the run to the airport turnoff is straightforward and behaves the same way in almost any season.

The busy windows belong to the hotels rather than to the airport. Departure banks cluster before dawn and again in mid-morning, and through July and August the mid-morning one overlaps with arriving coaches coming the other way along the same strip. Between about October and April the loop is quiet and the whole journey sits near the short end of the range.

Send us the departure time and the hotel and we work backwards from it, counting in the minutes the loop is likely to cost on the actual day you are leaving rather than on an average one.

The arrival portico at a Kundu resort is usually occupied by the hotel's own shuttle coaches on a departure morning, and private cars get waved into a side lane or out to the visitor car park. We ask for the property name at booking - not the district, and not the name printed on your voucher if that name belongs to a different zone - and the driver goes to the point private vehicles are genuinely using at your hour.

Indoors, these places are long. A room can be several hundred metres and two lifts away from the front desk, and at four in the morning one of those lifts is often closed for cleaning. If you tell us the block and the floor at booking, the driver holds at the nearest usable door and calls the number on your booking. Nobody has to stand outside with the bags trying to work out which car is theirs.

There is no rank inside the resort loop. A car has to be called in from outside, and at the hours most Antalya departures leave, your desk is competing with every other hotel on the strip for the same handful of drivers. In winter, when much of the strip is closed, there are fewer of them still.

A booked transfer is assigned before you go to bed: a vehicle, a driver, a number to ring and a time. It is not a request that may or may not be filled at the hour you need it, and it does not rest on the night manager's contacts or on how many other rooms asked first.

Cost behaves differently in the two directions as well. Arriving, you take whatever is at the head of the rank and the fare is whatever the meter says when you get there. Leaving, you are negotiating from a lobby with a departure time you cannot move, which is not a strong position. If you are reading this before the holiday rather than during it, book both halves at once.
